How do I appeal?
You may lodge an appeal about refusals, fees, delays, and the form on which your information is provided (i.e. on CD or paper). All access to information appeals should be submitted to the delegated office of the Information Officer.

How long does it take?
The law dictates that your request must be met within 30 days. However, because it can take longer to find the record that has been requested, the Municipality is allowed to extend the period by a further 30 days. The Information Officer must tell you if your request will take longer than 30 days. If you have not received the information within 30 days (or the extended period), the law regards this as a ‘refusal,’ and you may appeal.
Do I have to pay?
The request and Access fees payable in terms of Section 22 of the Act or exemption thereof are available in the manuals.

The following Aesthetic and Conservation Committees will be established in terms of the powers of the Swellendam Municipal Council as laid down in Section 155 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, (Act 108 of 1996)
The purpose of the Committees is to act as watchdog for and to advise on, the aesthetic and cultural conservation of buildings, public areas and places, as defined in the National Heritage Resources Act, 1999 (Act No. 25 of 1999). This intent, necessitates that members of committees must have the appropriate skills, competencies and knowledge to offer proper advice.
The Committees shall be independent and uncommitted, without predisposition or prejudices. A committee member shall be excused from the proceedings of a committee when a matter is discussed in which he or she has any direct or indirect interest.
